Just a little something.....

Here is a Reaper mini that I painted just for fun because he reminded me of Snake Eyes from GI Joe.

GenCon Winners

These are the pictures I managed to get of the winners in the GenCon painting competitions. Unfortunately some of the pictures turned out bad, but here is what I got:

I know that the sculpted minis in 1st and 2nd place were bought by Reaper. 3rd place sculpted mini went to Coolminiornot, hopefully we will see those soon!

Pics from GenCon

First off, I am sorry it took so long to get these pics posted up. The week after GenCon turned into a working nightmare, machines broke, had to install new machines, and train a new employee to take over my old job. I survived, but it left little time to do anything else. Anyway here are some shots from GenCon:

This was the D&D hall, everyone here was either playing D&D or one of the associated board games. There was even a giant beholder!

Here are some shots from the GenCon painting competition miniatures:

While I was wandering through the vendor hall I spotted something amazing, the TARDIS! I had to try and get inside, but it would not let me in. :( Maybe next year.

More pics and info to come!

I am going to GENCON!!!!!

As a last minute thing, my wife (in all her awesomeness) told me to go to Gen Con for the day with my friend, GreyHorde. We are leaving early Saturday morning, scoping out the contest minis, hitting the vendor hall, trying to squeeze in a painting class and any other general shenanigans we can get into. I will have plenty of pics and vids when I get back!

Zombie Invasion!!!!

Here are a couple of pictures of the Wargames Factory line of Zombies. These were all painted quick and dirty mostly because zombies usually don't stay on a game board for long. Basecoated the skin with Reaper MSP 9149 Moldy Skin. Clothes were done using GW washes and then I washed the skin using a custom mix of Daler-Rowney inks and matte medium. When that was all dried I used the Army Painter Quick Shade "Soft" Tone to dip and seal the minis. I know these wont win any awards, but I think they are good enough for the game table.

Trying to restart the madness

Without going into too much detail my real life has been severely cutting into my hobby time. It happens, not much can be done about it. I was actually starting to lose my interest in doing this anymore, but I did what most of us do, I played on the internet. I started browsing other blogs about painting and gaming. I read thru some forums. I said "What the heck?" and signed up to join a painting forum by the name of WAMP. What a great bunch of people there. I met a person who lives close to me who is a fantastic painter and they offered to teach me anything I wanted help on. You know every time that life seems to kick you in the teeth, it slides a little something good your way. Maybe I am just lucky there.

Anyway, my painting and gaming juices are pumping again and I will soon have some pictures, reviews, maybe even a battle report. Let see if I can really get this thing going.
